OXFAM Fed up after Wimbledon defeat costs them £100,000

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Roger Federer’s shock Wimbledon exit has left Oxfam stunned after his defeat cost them a £100,000 payout from bookmakers William Hill.

Hill’s customer Nick Newlife, from Oxford, bet £1520 at odds of 66/1 that Federer would win seven Wimbledons, back in 2003.

Mr Newlife passed away in 2009 aged 59, but willed the bet to Oxfam.

It was a very charitable gesture by Mr Newlife to leave this bequest to Oxfam in his will -and the good news for the charity is that the bet is still valid until 2019, and as Federer is not yet 30 he could still land that elusive seventh triumph‘ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL OFFER 3/1 THAT FEDERER WILL WIN THE TOURNAMENT IN 2012.

Wimbledon Biggest Wager Wins: Nadal 8/13 Fav For Final!

William Hill biggest ever Wimbledon bet was a winner as Nadal beat Murray today. The bet of £140,000 at 1/2 has triggered a monster £210,000 payout, and he also has a £51,000 on Maria Sharapova winning the Ladies title at 5/4, if she wins he is in line for a total payout of £321,750!

“Nadal cost us a pretty penny today but is was small fry compared to Murray win at Wimbledon, which Hills estimate would cost the industry a £5 million plus payout!” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Nadal is now the 8/13  favourite to win a further Wimbledon Crown, with Djokovic offered at 6/5.

“The final brings the two best players in the world together and you could not ask for more it could well produce a record turnover,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Murray odds on never to win Wimbledon

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

William Hill are offering odds of 4/6 that Andy Murray will NEVER win Wimbledon - and 11/10 that he eventually does manage to win the tournament.

‘Andy is unfortunate enough to be around when there are three brilliant players already in opposition and several others on the way up in the not too distant future. It just may be his fate never to win the event’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

But Hills believe he will win a Grand Slam event before he has finished and make him 2/9 to do so, 3/1 not to.

Hills are already quoting Murray at 6/1 to win NEXT year’s Wimbledon.

2012 Wimbledon prices:

2/1 Nadal

2/1 Djok

3/1 Federer

6/1 Murray
