In order to keep his qualification hopes alive, Spaniard Fernando Verdasco had to reach the final of this week’s French event, but today was halted in his tracks as local hero Gael Monfils beat the Spaniard 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 in the third round of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.
