It’s the final Grand Slam of the year at Flushing Meadows in the US Open championships and Novak Djokovic is attracting the attention.
The question is whether the favourite has recovered from injury enough to win the tournament which started his impressive form last year.
Sky Sports’ Nick Lester talks to Ben Bramley at length about the leading contenders in both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments.
He finds some big priced alternatives to the favourites and gives us his best bets ahead of the action.
British Bookmaker William Hill expect the Big Four (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Murray) to dominate once again at the final major of the year and offer 5/1 that they meet in the semi finals. Novak Djokovic says he is fit and is the 5/4 favourite. Andy Murray is 5/1 to lift the trophy but 5/2 favourite to be knocked out in the semi final.
“The big money is for Djokovic, who has at times looked unbeatable this year,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.
Serena Williams is red hot favourite for the woman’s US Open at 11/8 and is already a big five figure loser for Hills. Her nearest challenger is Kvitova at 5/1 with Sharapova 11/2 and Azarenka 9/1.
