Big Four set for semi final showdown

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

The ‘Big Four’ are making short work of the rest of the field at the Australian Open and it now seems we are in for a fantastic semi show down.

The best chance for an upset is perhaps del Potro beating Roger Federer at 5/2, but Federer looks as good as ever and is 11/8 to win in straight sets.

In the ladies draw the Wozniacki v Clijsters clash looks a cracking match with Clijsters 8/11 favourite with Wozniacki 1/1.

The dominance of the ‘big four’ always stands out at the Grand Slams and once again it looks like all four will make it to the semi-finals,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Nadal and Murray in hurry for Semi showdown

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Andy Murray eased into the third round of the Australian Open although the imperious form of Rafael Nadal has seen Murray slip to 7/1 (from 6/1) to win the tournament outright. William Hill have shortened Nadal from 7/4 to 6/4 outright favourite with Federer 7/4 second.

Should Murray win his next two matches, he will face Rafael Nadal in the semi finals and this is the 7/4 favourite to be the stage in which the Brit gets knocked out. On form, Murray will face Robin Soderling in the Quarter Final and Hills are offering 5/2 that he gets knocked out at this stage.

“Nadal has only dropped four games so far and he looks very impressive indeed. Should Murray face Nadal in the Semis, the odds are not on the Brit’s side,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are offering 12/1 that Murray goes on to win the Australian Open without dropping a set.

William Hill Australian Open Odds:

Men’s Outright: 6/4 Rafael Nadal; 7/4 Roger Federer; 7/1 Andy Murray; 8/1 Novak Djokovic; 14/1 Robin Soderling; 40/1 Tomas Berdych; 50/1 Andy Roddick; 66/1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga; 66/1 Marin Cilic; 80/1 Gael Monfils; 80/1 Marcos Baghdatis ;80/1 Jurgen Melzer; 80/1 Stanislas Wawrinka; 100/1 BAR
