Men’s French Open - draw and scores

Friday, May 28th, 2010

The men’s French Open (or Tournoi de Roland-Garros, as the locals call it) is without doubt the highlight of the clay-court season, and the super-stars of tennis are out in force for the 109th edition of the prestigious Grand Slam.

The 2009 tournament victory was Roger Federer’s first at the Paris event, and put his Grand Slam tally to 14 before the Swiss ace went on to claim the Wimbledon crown.

Rafael Nadal made a shocking early exit after losing to Federer’s final opponent, Robin Soderling.

Quite comfortably the world’s best player on this surface, Rafa gets back into action as the overwhelming favourite, and with good reason - the Spaniard has only ever lost that one match on the Parisian clay, and has lifted the Coupe des Mousquetaires four times in a row prior to last years defeat.

Running from 23 May until 6 June, the fortnight promises to be an exciting feast of fast and furious tennis, and you can follow your favourite player using the draw below.

Men’s Australian Open draw and scores

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, begins on 18 January at Melbourne Park. The Aussie Open is the youngest of the four Grand Slams but with three top quality arenas Melbourne is certainly not lacking in infrastructure.

Nor is it lacking in top players as the men’s best do battle for the first Slam of the year. Rafael Nadal is the defending champion while his great rival Roger Federer is bidding for an incredible 16th Grand Slam title. Britain’s Andy Murray is not without a chance, although he is seeded fifth as a result of Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro overtaking him in the rankings in recent weeks.

The form player coming into the tournament though is Nikolay Davydenko who has carried on the momentum from winning the ATP World Tour finals at the back end of last season in London by winning the ATP Doha by defeating Federer in the semi-final and then Nadal in the final.

The fortnight promises to be an exciting feast of fast and furious tennis, and you can follow your favourite player using the draw below.

Australian Open Tennis Men’s Quarter-Finals - Simon Mundie

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Roger Federer produced an immaculate performance against Lleyton Hewitt to book his quarter-final place at the Australian Open, however all eyes will be on Andy Murray as he looks to silence Spaniard Rafael Nadal and set up a possible semi-final with Andy Roddick or Marin Cilic.

Murray has a losing record against Nadal but his game should theoretically match up well with the Pearl Of Manacor and Talksport’s Simon Mundie explains why in the podcast.

Simon previews all four quarter-final matches and gives us his best bet of the round. He also takes a preliminary look at the women’s tournament, which we will latch on to in full from the semi-final stage.

Enjoy.
