Roger Federer remains on course for a record 16th Grand Slam title following his impressive victory over an in-form Nikolay Davydenko in the quarter-finals. The world number one first though has to get past Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-finals before he can entertain such thoughts of another Grand Slam title.
Tsonga upset the odds by defeating world number three Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals and he has to do the same if he is to reach his second Grand Slam final, which would also be his second Australian Open final after he was the runner-up in Melbourne in 2008.
The world number ten won his last meeting with Federer, last year at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, but the career head-to-head record stands at one win each.
